Ten Pound Fiddle fills the musical void

MONDAY, Jan. 31 — The Ten Pound Fiddle recently announced a virtual mini-series of concerts. The free audio archives will serve to “fill the musical void” until live shows presented by the Fiddle resume in March.
Canadian fiddler April Verch will be the first musician featured in the miniseries, with an archived audio concert from her show in April 2016. Verch’s style ranges from Scandinavian folk music to American old-time. Her performance will be available for listening on the Fiddle’s website until Friday, Feb. 11.
From Feb. 11 to Feb. 25, the Fiddle will feature an archived concert performance from banjo player and fiddler Jake Blount. The audio is from Blout’s Oct. 2021 performance for the Fiddle. The last audio archive concert will be featured from Feb. 25 to March 11. James Keelaghan, a popular singer-songwriter, originally performed for the Fiddle in January 2020.
“While these audio archive concerts are officially free, listeners are invited to donate directly to the articles with a link on the concert page at www.tenpoundfiddle.org,” the organization wrote in their announcement.
Live concerts from the Fiddle will resume on March 11, at University United Methodist Church in East Lansing. A revised concert schedule for the season can be found on the Fiddle’s website.
