Give yourself the royal treatment with a meal at Crown Grill

I love trying a new restaurant on the recommendation of its signature dish, only to find that there’s so much more to discover. 

I’ve long heard that Crown Grill has some of Lansing’s best burgers, so I paused and then clicked on its thumbnail while hopelessly scrolling through Grubhub recently for delivered sustenance, way too hungry and tired. I wasn’t even in the mood for a burger, but I couldn’t bear to continue the search. 

Luckily, the menu has a lot of variety: tacos, fattoush salad, falafel, shawarma, lamb chili, chicken wings. I didn’t expect to be spoiled for choice. The lemon-herb grilled chicken sandwich sounded perfect, so into the cart it went, along with a small Greek salad and an order of fries. 

I had just enough time to shower and find something to watch before the food arrived. Side note: If you’re not tipping your delivery drivers, I want you to take a long, hard look at yourself. 

The Greek salad was beautiful and fresh, full of olives, beets, cucumbers, really delicious feta cheese and a housemade (I assume) vinaigrette. A pro tip is to take some fries, douse them with the dressing and feta, and eat them with a fork. Next time I go in person, I’ll have to see about some garlic sauce to further enhance the experience. 

The sandwich was simple but extremely tasty, the star being the juicy, marinated chicken with a delicious kiss of charcoal. The herby chicken paired perfectly with the salad dressing, into which I ended up dipping the sandwich. Mental note to get an extra side of dressing in the future. 

I have no doubt the burgers at Crown Grill are incredible, and I look forward to giving them a try, but I’m just as excited to try the less expected items on the menu. If my first meal was any indication, I’m sure all of it is delicious, and I’m thrilled to have somewhere to turn when I’m exhausted and in need of something quick, fresh and life affirming.
