The election is over, but we’ve got another election for you. Sorry. But this one is much more fun.

After months of campaign ads everywhere and a mountain of “vote for” junk mails, we’re all ready for a break.

Mid-Michigan had just gone through one of the most expensive and blanketing elections in the U.S. this year and we know you’ve had it up to your ears with election messages.

Lansing may well be the world headquarters for we’re-sick-of-elections.

So this is awkward.

We’re asking you to vote again.

I know, I know.

But hear us out.

This is fun stuff like Greater Lansing’s best restaurants and dishes, the best movie theaters and bands and bars, and the best places to get art supplies or haircuts as well as the best place to have a public cry.

What are we doing this time?

City Pulse comes out with three Top of the Town issues each year and this one may be the most important one for our valuable voters. That’s you.

Our October issue was our nominating round. We collected the names from our readers and from past contests. More than 50,000 votes were cast, giving us the Top 5 in each category.

Starting today, you’ll be voting for two weeks (until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 17) and narrowing those Top 5 into the Top 3 picks.

And that’s it for you, dear readers.

You have two weeks to make your say.

Vote for your favorites and recruit your friends to do the same.

The rest is our job and we come back to you on Dec. 2 with the Top 3 winners in each category.

Another freaking vote?

City Pulse knows you’re busy.

So hang tight and give us a little bit more juice.

This is all free and it’s a great way to help your favorite business.

They get attention and a year’s worth of bragging rights.

You can vote in a single category in under two minutes, so don’t worry about being a completionist. Make that first vote.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Click on the QR code (or the website or visit lansingcitypulse.com or you an even mail in this paper)
  2. Vote for as many categories as you like. They’re sorted alphabetically. If you see six or more, that means it was a tie. If you see less than five, we’re showing you everyone who qualified. You don’t have to finish and there’s no ‘submit your vote’ button. It just counts your vote right away and as you go.
  3. Promote your favorites. This is the secret here. If you can get a bunch of your friends to vote for your pick, there’s a good chance it’ll be one of the top picks. So share this.
  4. Check back on Dec. 2. We publish the Top 3 in each category and it’ll be online and in print. The bragging rights last all year!

Top of the Town is the best way for Greater Lansing to sort the best of the best. No one else does it like City Pulse.
