Enerson, business and financial manager of the eastside nonprofit, will replace founding director Joan Nelson, who will retire next month.

Joseph Enerson will become the nonprofit’s second executive director
Joseph Enerson has been selected to become only the second executive director of the Allen Neighborhood Center in its 23-year history.
Enerson, business and financial manager of the eastside nonprofit, will replace founding director Joan Nelson, who will retire next month.
“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead this dynamic organization as we integrate and strengthen the many components of ANC,” Enerson, 35, said in a press release.
Added board President Jon Lum, “Joe has been a key member of the leadership team that oversaw the creation of Allen Place and is trusted by ANC stakeholders, including staff, board, neighbors, partners and funders.”
During Enerson’s time as the Kalamazoo Street nonprofit’s financial officer, the center completed Allen Place, an $11 million development that includes apartments, a health center and soon the Eastside Lansing Food Co-op.
“I have worked closely with Joe for over four years and am thrilled with his selection, Nelson said. “He has precisely the values, temperament and skills necessary to lead this lively organization.”
