‘Going Medieval!’

Lansing Community College is ‘Going Medieval’ with its final Summer Stage production of the season.

The school is staging two comedic plays from the middle ages, both directed by Paige Dunckel. One of the most well-known mystery plays of the period, “The Second Shepherd’s Play,” follows three shepherds before the Nativity. It blends religious themes and regional humor and was part of the Wakefield Mystery Cycle, which depicted Bible stories as early thespians toured small towns and villages. 

The other play, “Mankind,” was written around 1470 and is considered to be one of the funniest and most controversial shows of its kind to have survived into the internet era. It follows the character of Mankind’s temptation into sin by characters representing four worldly vices.

The production is recommended for adults. Admission is free. Audience members should pick up seat vouchers at the box office, which opens 30 minutes before curtain.
