Community members can enjoy food, family activities, live music, local vendors and other fun every Thursday through Aug. 6 at the Moonlight Market, organized by the Owosso Farmers Market.

The market’s vendors offer a variety of goods, including artwork, pottery, baked goods and pet products. Attendees can also expect special events each night, such as petting zoos, bubbles, balloon animals and live blacksmithing and ironwork demonstrations.

Additionally, several community and cultural partners are participating in the series, including Shiawassee County Friends of the Fair and Friends of the Shiawassee River. The Shiawassee Arts Center is open until 7:30 p.m. each week so attendees can view its “Year of the NonProfit” exhibit, and the historic Curwood Castle and Comstock Cabin are available to tour as well.

Free concerts begin at 7 p.m. each week at the Mitchell Amphitheater, across the river from the park. Performers include Beth Stalker, the Sandra Faye Band, Midday Sun and Simply in Time.

The July 30 market, perhaps the most exciting of the season, will run at the same time as the Back to the Bricks Tune-Up Party in downtown Owosso, offering classic cars, music and other activities.

“Moonlight Market is one of those things that just feels like Owosso when it works right,” Stephen Schlaack, manager of the Owosso Farmers Market, said. “You have people walking along the river, kids seeing animals, families grabbing dinner, folks shopping from local makers, and then music starting across the river at the amphitheater. It’s not complicated. It’s just a really good summer night downtown.”
