What's Up in Lansing: Summer STEAM Series

Posted

You might expect libraries to only bring reading events to the community, but Capital Area District Libraries is interested in expanding local knowledge of science, technology, engineering, arts and math, or STEAM education.

Throughout the summer, CADL has been offering programs for children ages 7 to 17 years old to experiment with these topics. So far, marshmallow engineering has been offered, a marble maze party and origami creature creation. The summer’s finale comes this Aug. 15 when children will experiment in the Structure Building Workshop. Kids will have the opportunity to use straws and cups to see how a variety of materials can impact a structure.

Participants do not have to register ahead of time.

Summer STEAM Series (Ages 7-17). Build with cups and straws to see how materials make a difference. 11 a.m. - noon FREE. Capital Area District Libraries Haslett Branch, 1590 Franklin St. Haslett.
