What's Up in Lansing: "Recount" by Cindi Ford

“RECOUNT” BY CINDI FORD

Often artists choose to focus on a specific medium, but that isn’t so in Cindi Ford’s case. In her brand-new exhibit, “Recount,” the focus is printmaking but mixed media is involved. Sponsored by Dan and Bonnie Warmels, according to the Lansing Art Gallery’s website, the exhibition’s theme is “to bring awareness to personal, psychological and social issues within intimate and community settings, serving as both the theme, and underlying catalyst of Ford’s work.” The printmaking for this particular project uses Mokahanga — a traditional Japanese woodcut process — linoleum cuts, letterpress and some collage. The works also have written commentary.
