From ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Star Trek’
After 35 years of playing in the “Star Wars” sandbox, Timothy Zahn is making the jump to another sci-fi franchise.
Zahn is hard at work on an original “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” graphic novel for IDW Publishing, slated for a late 2027 release.

“I started watching classic ‘Star Trek’ when I was in high school, so this is kind of like a homecoming for me,” he said.
He didn’t reveal too much about the plot. What he did say is that a priceless artifact is destroyed upon arrival at DS9. A covert team is sent in to figure out what happened and who is responsible. Of course, things aren’t what they seem.
“Things keep unraveling. Hopefully, it’ll be a twisty plot for people to enjoy,” Zahn said. “We needed a space station, and DS9 is the best one for this story. Mostly it’s my own characters, who interact with some of the classic ‘DS9’ characters.”
