Josh&Jase celebrate Lansing

British social media duo Josh&Jase visited Lansing on Tuesday, taking in the Capitol Lawn’s farmers market, getting the day declared “Josh and Jase Day,” eating lunch at MEAT BBQ and later an olive burger and also watching trucks slide under the Big Penny bridge.

They packed a lot of Lansing into Tuesday.

The duo, Joshua Cauldwell-Clarke and Jason “Jase” Riley, were generous with their time at the farmers market, taking pictures and sharing jokes with anyone who wanted as they tooled around the farmers’ tents and looked at the goods.

They introduced themselves to Lansing with a video at the backside of the Capitol, posted around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“Lansing, we’re here. We’re here to explore your wonderful city. Let’s go,” they said in the video to kick off the day.

Their stops included the Michigan Farmers Market Association pop-up farmers market on the Capitol Lawn.

The duo are known for their British takes as they embrace American culture and language through travel. The pair previously visited Michigan during a cold snap, and have visited several other states with the same gusto for life and a loose itinerary that embraces local social media recommendations over traditional touristy visits.

So it’s hardly a surprise to see the pair try an olive burger, with mixed results.

They ate at Steakhouse Philly Bar & Grill on Kalamazoo Street and again were generous with their time, taking photos and swapping stories with people, according to accounts on social media.

And when they were on the Capitol Lawn, a reporter for City Pulse made sure to warn the duo about the Hooga Hooga and to keep a supply of grape jelly on hand.

They responded gamely and said they’d look out too.
