Lansing Police say they’ve solved 2009 homicide of Lansing teenager
The Lansing Police Department announced Friday that a resolution has been made in the previously unsolved 2009 homicide of 19-year-old Edric Hinton.
In an initial news release, police said there had been an arrest, soon after police sent out an update changing that to a “resolution,” with officials planning to explain more during a Monday news conference.

Hinton was visiting with acquaintances at 916 W. Cavanaugh on Aug. 1, 2009, when he was hit by a bullet that went through an apartment window from the outside, according to a Crimestoppers of Mid-Michigan bulletin that officials have updated to include the word “solved” over top.
Hinton got up to run but fell instantly due to a fatal gunshot wound, according to Crimestoppers. He was born and raised in Lansing and loved to watch NFL and was a fan of the Tennessee Titans with Steve McNair and Eddie George at the top of his list.
“When he wasn’t watching football, he could often be found listening to music or spending time with friends,” according to the Crimestoppers post. Hinton had enrolled at Lansing Community College and was looking forward to starting class.
