Celebration Cinema continues pop-up drive-in showings

THURSDAY, Aug. 27 — Movie fans, rejoice. Celebration Cinema Lansing is hosting more pop-up drive-in screenings. Attendees will safely enjoy filmgoing from the comfort of their cars.  

This weekend, Celebration is showing a double feature of the comic book films “The New Mutants” and “Deadpool.” “The New Mutants” is an edgy new entry in the X-Men series, following five young mutants trying to free themselves from an oppressive psychiatric hospital. “Deadpool” stars Ryan Reynolds as a sarcastic superhero with regenerative abilities.  

The gates open at 8 p.m., and the movies begin at 9:15 p.m. To hear the movie, all you have to do is tune in to 102.3 FM.  

Customers are encouraged to buy tickets online to reduce contact with employees and speed up the entry line. Celebration temporarily waived the service fee for purchasing online tickets.  

Snacks can also be purchased in advance online. Celebration will not accept cash for tickets or concessions, so you should plan on bringing a debit or credit card.  

Spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Celebration’s parking lot can fit 120 cars.  

Attendees are not allowed to bring alcohol or outside food items. Vaping and smoking is allowed as long as it takes place in an area where it will not affect the experience of other customers. Vaping and smoking near the building is also not allowed.  

Make sure you come prepared for four hours of cinema. Readmittance is not allowed. If your car leaves the pop-up, then you’re going to have to pay again.  

Celebrations asks that large vehicles and RVs to park in the back as a courtesy to customers in small cars.  

Customers who would prefer not to sit in the car are welcome to bring lawn chairs and sit outside as long as they are properly social distancing. Celebration asks that its customers stay at least six feet away from other groups.
