Celebration Cinema launches pop-up drive-in this weekend

FRIDAY, Aug. 7 — Itching to go back to the movie theater? Celebration Cinema has a makeshift solution with old school charm: a series of pop-up drive-in screenings. Using three stacked shipping containers to create a giant projection screen in Celebration Cinema Lansing's parking lot, the setup allows groups in a single vehicle to check out film screenings. With proper social distance, groups can also enjoy the movie from outside of their vehicle. The first movie being shown in the pop-up series, “Black Panther,” runs Saturday in Lansing through Aug. 13. More screenings are expected to be announced by Celebration. 

Filmgoers are advised to purchase tickets online ahead of time, as cash will not be accepted. Sound will be delivered through the radio using an FM signal. Concessions and restroom access will be available, but customers must wear a mask for service.
