Ferguson, a former Democratic National Committeeman, said the date has not been set but that the Clinton campaign is committed to coming here. “She’ll be out in the community,” he said, adding he also is trying to arrange a fundraiser for her.
Ferguson, who chairs the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, spoke on the “City Pulse on the Air” radio show on 89 FM The Impact. The show airs at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. It will be available on www.lansingcitypulse.com later today.
Ferguson said a group of black ministers met today to discuss her appearance.
Clinton is running in the primary election against U.S. Sen. Bernie Sander, I-Vt.
Ferguson, a longtime Hillary Clinton backer — he supported her over President Barack Obama when they ran against each other for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 — predicted Clinton would beat Sanders by a “comfortable” margin.
“She has a good history” in the state, he said. Asked if she has a good organization in the state, Ferguson said, “She’ll have it. We’ll be ready.”
