Drive-through Cristo Rey Fiesta Food Fest arrives in September

Posted

TUESDAY, Aug. 4 — The Cristo Rey Fiesta Food Fest at Cristo Rey Church is undergoing some changes this year to keep attendees safe from COVID-19. The festival — considered the largest Latino event in mid-Michigan — typically draws a crowd of thousands of people from all over the state.  In lieu of a crowded party, the church is holding a Fiesta Food Fest Drive-Through.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, food will be available on church grounds. Cristo Rey urges attendees to “Stay safe, wear mouth and nose covers, save lives.” The church promises to follow health and safety protocols during the food preparation process. As the event grows nearer, the church plans to release the specifics of its guidelines to the public.

Raffle tickets are available to purchase from the church office or church members. Cristo Rey will announce the winner of the raffle on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. “Raffle tickets offer a chance to win while at the same time help our cause,” Cristo Rey officials said in a press release.

When the crisis subsides, the Fiesta Committee looks forward to planning 2021 Cristo Rey Fiesta.
