Posted

WEDNESDAY, July 22 — Don’t fret — Lansing JazzFest is still going down this year. The  Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art announced that this year’s festival is a weeklong interactive digital experience to be held Sept. 13 through Sept. 20. MICA also announced that JazzFest is going online in tandem with its other major music festival, Michigan BluesFest.

“Our festival’s team felt that it is in the best interests of fans, volunteers and musicians to host virtual concerts this year”, said Marcus Sigh, MICA’s new operations manager in a press release.

Though it will not feature the usual public street concerts, programming for the festivals is still being expanded. Fans can tune into livestreamed performances held on sound stages throughout Old Town, as well as shows being broadcast from across the United States, Europe and South America.

In addition to these newly recorded live performances, Lansing JazzFest 2020 will also celebrate its vibrant history with video highlights from the past two decades of the festival. Attendees to the virtual event can also expect music workshops, KidzBeat activities and the ability to interact with the musicians.

A full schedule, list of musicians and instructions on how to participate, register and sponsor opportunities will be announced soon at www.micharts.org.
