Madame Rue’s holistic psychic fair entwines self-care and spirituality

THURSDAY, Nov. 14 — Need your aura checked? Have inexplicable body aches? Or maybe you just need help tuning out the chaos? Talk to Madame Rue, one of Lansing’s leading psychic mediums and host of holistic fairs.

Rue, aka Willow Richmond, brings her annual holistic psychic fair to the Atrium Office Center at 215 S. Washington Square in downtown Lansing. The fair has a $5 entry fee and has vendors as well as presentations on holistic and metaphysical topics.

Several intuitive readers and healing artists are scheduled to offer guidance throughout the day. If connecting with the deceased isn’t in the cards for you this weekend, a plethora of artwork will be available, along with medicinal teas, body oils and just about anything else one needs to maintain balance during the holidays.

“A lot of our metaphysical vendors will be selling crystals,” said Richmond, who noted their rise in popularity correlates with publications recommending them as supplements to physical and mental healthcare treatments. “As an example, Kunzite has lithium in it. People who have a tendency toward mood swings, if they wear it around their necks or press it on their forehead, their skin could possibly absorb it. Now, I wouldn’t use it in place of medication, but people have found that it helps.”

Madame Rue has been reading for Lansing residents for 30 years, serving the area with her metaphysical intelligence -- creativity, wisdom and other unquantifiable factors of human potential. Her first brush with holistic healing came from her grandmother, who was a nurse and masseuse. Richmond began practicing the art of massage and energy work in her late 30s and has practiced intuitive arts ever since.

Psychic medium Laura Moody leads “Night with the Spirits,” beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the atrium. Moody says she has 25 years of intuitive training to channel messages from the deceased friends, family or pets to their loved ones still on Earth. For $25, patrons can participate in a group reading with a guaranteed message for each participant. Pre-registration is available on the Facebook event page and covers entrance to the fair.

Saturday’s festivities will fill up the terrace and main floor of the atrium’s grandiose landscape.

The regal high ceilings, ornamented with celestial crown molding and skylights, are a throwback to the atrium’s showy history as aearly 20th century theater. The dramatic staircase and ceiling murals are remnants of its heyday of vaudeville acts and silent films

Richmond said that the entire terrace floor will be dedicated to various intuitive readers specializing in practices such as tarot cards and energy painting. The main floor will feature an array of natural products and presentations designed to amplify any self-care regiment.

“This year I have more variety in healing arts,” said Richmond. “I have a medical intuitive, an animal intuitive, naturopaths who make their own tinctures, reiki, reflexology and acupuncturists.”
