Thursday, Oct. 10 — Ragtime is a dance genrethat peaked in popularity in the early 1900s, until it was phased out by jazz. Butit’s never gone completely out of style.
The MayflowerCongregational Church will host “Ragtime Festime: Three Keyboards and an Alto”at 7 p.m. Friday.
The second annual eventfeatures old rags like “The Entertainer” and “I Want to Go Back to Michigan” andnew rags like last year’s “Ragtime Santa.”
Pianists David Bandfield,Chrisann Lowe and Bill McHarris performed at last year’s event, but this time theywill be joined by ragtime alto Karen Nault. Complimentary homemade dessertswill be available following the show.
