Downtown Lansing Inc. purchased a new set of giant ornaments to install at the intersection of Michigan and Washington Avenue, right in front of the state capitol.
The site is well-known as the Christmas season home of four giant red balls (or ornaments) but this is the first year that the city has had an alternate set of giant orbs.
The orbs will be taken down in early November and are part of a plan to encourage people to come to the Trick or Treat on the Square event from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Oct. 30 and to encourage more people to come downtown.
