THURSDAY, Oct. 29 — Lansing’s 31st annual Silver Bells in the City festival is stepping away from the teen pop groups of recent years and has tapped a headline performer with local connections.
Singer/songwriter Joshua Davis will serve as Grand Marshall of the parade and will perform the closing concert of this year’s Silver Bells in the City. The free, family-friendly concert, which is usually presented on the Capitol steps, will move into the Lansing Center this year. The performance will begin at approximately 8 p.m., following the evening’s traditional tree lighting and fireworks show.
A Detroit-area native and MSU graduate, Davis was frontman for Lansing-based folk band Steppin’ In It and was a finalist on season eight of NBC’s reality TV singing competition “The Voice.” He has recorded three solo albums and is working on new songs for a release next year. His most recent album, “A Miracle of Birds,” was inspired by his travels in the Palestinian West Bank.
