THURSDAY, March 21 — A new Michigan craft brewery serving pub fare will open on Albert Avenue come next Fall.

With locations in Ann Arbor, Dexter, Traverse City, Detroit, Royal Oak, Grand Rapids and Chicago, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales is a part of the Michigan-based Northern United Brewing Co.

Jolly Pumpkin’s flagship beer Oro de Calabaza, or Pumpkin Gold, took home the #1 Rated Belgian Gold in the World prize, according to The New York Times in 2010. All of its beers are aged in oak barrels.

“Jolly Pumpkin is excited to be announcing our newest location in East Lansing,” said Tony Grant, CEO of Northern United Brewing Co. and former MSU football player. “Since my days at Michigan State, East Lansing has meant something special to me. Announcing a Jolly Pumpkin location along Albert Avenue strengthens my commitment to the community.”

The restaurant will be approximately 6,000 square feet located within the $125 million Center City District Development mixed-use building.

“Jolly Pumpkin’s announcement is another great example of East Lansing being the right location for growth”, said Mark Meadows, mayor of East Lansing. “East Lansing has an amazing community and we are attracting businesses that want to be a part it.”
