BBC’s World Questions' series to host a debate in Lansing

FRIDAY, May 17 — The British Broadcasting Corp. will bring its “World Questions” program to Lansing June 4, when local panelists are set to debate questions on national issues submitted by a live audience.

Panelists for the hour-long event at the Lansing Center are state Sens. Sarah Anthony, D-Lansing and John Damoose, R-Harbor Springs, Michigan State University public policy Professor Matt Grossmann, Kaitlyn Buss of The Detroit News and Jennifer Root, executive director of Michigan’s branch of the Service Employees International Union.

Topics are expected to touch on a range of political, economic and social issues, including inflation, jobs, immigration, the right to protest and the upcoming presidential election.

BBC anchor Anu Anand will moderate the session, which begins with a reception at 6 p.m.

Attendance will be capped at 150 people, with pre-registration available at https://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/world-questions-4jun24#. Tickets are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and are “usually dispatched from approximately three weeks ahead of the recording date,” according to the BBC’s website.

The debate will make its broadcast debut on June 8 through the BBC’s World Service English program at www.bbc.com/worldserviceradio. It will also be available via BBC Sounds and most major podcast providers.
