Making the decision easier

Uncle John’s Cider Mill debuts variety pack of hard cider

Posted

WEDNESDAY, July 27 — With seven flavors to choose from, it can be difficult to decide which four-pack of Uncle John’s Hard Cider to take home. To make things easier for indecisive drinkers, the cider mill/winery is debuting a new variety pack of hard cider. Rather than committing to one flavor, cider lovers can grab a variety pack with four options.

“Not everyone wants to make a decision or commit to a product they haven’t tried before,” said Dede Beck, co-owner of Uncle John’s Cider Mill and daughter-in-law of founders John and Carolyn Beck. “When it’s already presented in a variety pack, it’s an easier decision,”.

The cider mill’s traditional cider and donuts are fall favorites in mid-Michigan, but to keep up with trends in the market and offer an alternative to beer and wine, Uncle John’s debuted its hard cider line in 2003. Its lineup includes year-round flavors like apple, apple blueberry and apple pear, as well as seasonal favorites like apple apricot. The variety pack will give drinkers a chance to try something new without committing to a whole four-pack.

“It’s a new way to get the product out to people,” Beck said.

The variety pack debuts tomorrow along with Uncle John’s first Family Thursdays event. Family Thursdays will run until the end of August and provide a family-friendly activities. In addition to cider and donuts, tomorrow’s festivities include food trucks, wagon rides and inflatables. A DJ will provide the evening’s musical accompaniment.

“Everyone already has their weekend plans, so we wanted to offer something local and fun for the families to do together during the week,” Beck said. “I think it’s important for the family to spend time together. That’s our business, to bring families together.”
