Bee Palooza

Posted

Michigan State University’s annual Bee Palooza, a celebration of pollinators and the promotion of pollinator stewardship, will run 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) at its Horticulture Gardens. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the need to preserve populations of native bees, other pollinating insects, birds and some bats.

This year’s theme is “Bee the Change,” which focuses on ground-nesting bees and restoring native prairies. The free event will feature eight hands-on educational stations through which attendees can gain a greater understanding of the role bees play in Michigan’s ecosystem and how to protect and provide the natural resources they require. Attendees can also enjoy free ice cream, face painting, crafts and more.

The event is free and open to all ages. For more information, visit beepalooza.org.
